Curriculum Statement
The Geography curriculum aims to inspire curiosity about and fascination with the world and its people, equipping students with the knowledge and skills to understand an increasingly complex and interconnected planet. Students explore a wide range of physical and human processes, developing an appreciation of how environments and societies are shaped and interdependent.
In Key Stage 3, students build a strong foundation of geographical knowledge through the study of diverse places, processes and global issues. The curriculum is carefully sequenced so that students revisit and deepen their understanding over time, making connections between topics and developing their ability to think geographically.
Fieldwork is an essential part of the curriculum, providing opportunities for students to apply their learning in real-world contexts and to develop key investigative and analytical skills. Through the study of both global and local environments, including their own region, students also develop their cultural capital and understanding of the world around them.
By Key Stage 4, students refine their ability to analyse, evaluate and make reasoned judgements about contemporary issues, preparing them to be informed, responsible and engaged global citizens.
