Do you ever wonder how the universe began or how the planets formed and life evolved? Do you want to discover how scientists find out which things are true and evidence can be trusted? Are you interested in how the world will be supplied with enough food and energy for the future, or how we can protect the environment and find cures for diseases? The delivery of the Science curriculum at Unity taps into the natural inquisitive nature of all of us. Through a combination of practical experimentation, research and demonstration, students embark on a journey when they join Unity in Year 7. The core Science curriculum is complemented by additional Forensics courses in Year 7 and Interest Modules in Year 9 to challenge and motivate keen scientists.
At Key Stage 4, all students pursue a Science qualification. Unity College has recently been acknowledged as a centre of good practice due to the varied Science curriculum opportunities in Years 10 and 11. Students can choose to pursue core Science at GCSE level, OCR Science or supplement their core Science learning with Additional Science GCSE.
