Unity College has a strong tradition of musical excellence.  All students study Music throughout Key Stage 3 with many students opting for extra Music lessons in Year 9.  At Key Stage 4, we offer GCSE Music and currently have 4 groups of students pursuing this course in years 10 and 11.  Music has enjoyed continued high results for the past several years and this is in no small part due to the excellent teaching and dedication from the music staff.

In addition to curriculum time, the Music department also offers a programme of extra curricular activities.  There opportunities for keen singers to join the ever-expanding ‘School of Song’ who rehearse at lunchtimes and perform at our hugely popular Expressive Arts evenings.  The Music team also plays a huge part in our whole college musical productions each year.

Students also have the opportunity to learn an instrument during their time at Unity.  Many choose to take up a brass instrument and subsequently play as part of one of the college’s brass ensembles, but others enjoy regular drum, keyboard or guitar lessons to name a few.  The new college building provides two state of the art music keyboard labs and a fully equipped music recording studio.
