Dance is the newest subject within the Expressive Arts faculty.  It has grown from strength to strength over the past year and there are a wealth of opportunities for students to get involved in Dance activities at lunchtimes, after school, or through choosing extra Dance in their curriculum.

Dance also plays a strong part in our hugely popular Expressive Arts festivals and showcase evenings.  Students also get involved in whole college productions through Dance.  Last year’s production of Grease the Musical played to sold out houses.

All students in Years 7 and 8 have one lesson of Dance each week.  In Year 7, Dance forms part of the innovative iXL curriculum.  In Year 9, students are able to choose to begin an accelerated Dance course or simply to continue with Dance lessons for interest if they wish.

At Key Stage 4, Dance is on offer to all students through the options process.  We currently run a BTEC Certificate in Dance (level 2), which has an equivalence of 2 higher GCSE grades.

Our new Dance facilities at Unity College are set to be very busy with the jam-packed programme of clubs and activities on offer.
