Unity College Alma Mater
In 2006 Unity College opened its doors for the very first time. As part of the Building Schools for the Future programme it was important to establish the identity and ethos of the new school. Named Unity College, the keywords which came to symbolise this transformational change were:
Unity
Passion
Respect
Taking inspiration from those words and in the spirit of a Specialist English and The Arts College, Actor / Dramatist in Residence Philip J. Hindle composed the School Song which encompassed the College’s beliefs. Known as the Unity College Alma Mater, it takes its name from the Latin, meaning ‘Fostering Mother’, as the school believes in nourishing its students both educationally and emotionally.
On hearing the song Headteacher, Mrs Cryer immediately identified with the words and decided that it would be a fitting tribute to Unity College making it the Official School Song.
